Frequently Asked Questions
Gloriosa is both very large and getting to be pretty old, so things have been worked and re-worked to run more smoothly. As this suggests, some details get lost along the way, so I hope this section will clear up any questions you may have.
If your question still isn't answered, contact information is provided at the bottom of the page, but please be sure to read the FAQs and Terms of Use carefully before contacting me.
What is this?
Gloriosa is an all-purpose media hub for all of my FFVII-related websites. Because managing different subject-specific galleries was a bit of a hassle, I combined everything I had into one gallery. Since it's initial release, the Final Fantasy VII universe has expanded, and Gloriosa has grown right along with it. I've kept up with the art books, games, and films in an effort to keep this database as current as possible. ...And to enjoy the FFVII fandom, of course.
Gloriosa was initially designed as a resource for graphic artists interested in making icons and wallpapers, as well as an archive of said icons and wallpapers for visitors to enjoy. However, it has also become something of a reference for cosplayers and fan artists in recent years, and I hope to continue to provide for the community.
How can I submit my work to Gloriosa?
If you have a wallpaper or icon you'd like to submit, please e-mail me with your work attached, the name you'd like to credited with and your site url/LJ username if applicable.
Please ensure that your creation is in fact yours. Although I appreciate all efforts to help expand Gloriosa's resources, I can only accept wallpapers and icons from the artists themselves.
Please also note that Gloriosa does have space limitations, and anything deemed too large will be compressed to a smaller file size. As a rule, please keep journal icons under 20 KB and wallpapers under 250 KB. If you are not sure how to do this, you may go ahead and send me the larger files, just know that I will re-save them at a smaller size before posting, thus the image may loose a bit of its quality. Having said that, the change in quality is usually not noticeable to anyone other than the artist.
Do you accept fan art?
All FFVII-related fan art is accepted at Midgar-RockORG, the FFVII domain of which Gloriosa is a part.
Where do you get all this stuff?
Everywhere.
- Amazon Japan
- My go-to site for books (AC Prologue, DC Prelude, Ultimania Omega, etc) and the Japanese AC DVD.
- Product information is displayed in Japanese, but purchasing options can be displayed in English. Shipping is somewhat pricey but very effective
- Yesasia.com
- Purchased The Black Mages album from here as well as the rest of my non-FF music. I've also purchased non-FF DVDs and books through this site before.
- Free shipping and flexible payment options, but some people have cited receiving broken CD cases. I personally only had that problem with one out of at least 30 items I've purchased from Yesasia in the past.
- CDJapan
- Any music not purchased from Yesasia (Dirge of Cerberus and AC OSTs). I've also purchased non-FF DVDs and have been happy.
- CDJapan's shipping has lots of options that can be a bit over whelming, but the products are packaged well.
- iTunes
- Most FF soundtracks have now been made available domestically through the iTunes Store
- I've only begun using this service recently and haven't had any problems (minus a minor addiction). They only overcharged me once and caught it before I did--and gave me a free song in addition to my refund! :p
- EBGames
- Most of my game collection as well as the English AC DVD + bonus disc was purchased at one of EB's many stores.
- I've only used the Gamestop online store (they're one of the same now, I believe?), and it was nice and prompt. I've never had a problem purchasing at EBGames.
Please note that all domestic releases were not purchased through the vendor's online store, so I can't personally say anything for or against their shipping policies.
Where's all the Before Crisis media?
Because Before Crisis is a cellphone game so far only released in Japan, media that isn't watermarked as an exclusive to other sites is pretty sparse... and I personally don't have much of an interest in it. Gloriosa's lover partner site Divine Right -- a Shinra media archive -- has plenty of BC artwork and screen captures.
How do you take screen captures?
All screen captures are taken in either BS Player (free program!), InterVideo WinDVD 7, Windows Movie Maker, or VirtualDub (free!) and edited in Photoshop.
